Allanasons Ltd. to Build Meat Processing Plant in Ethiopia

Allanasons Ltd, India's largest exporter of processed food products, signed an agreement with the Ministry of Industry establish a meat processing plant, Walta Information Center reported.

The agreement was signed in Addis Ababa on Wednesday, January 1, 2014 by Meberatu Melese, Industry State Minister, and Aman R. Kahan, representative of Allanasons Ltd.

Meberatu on the occasion said, the establishment of the plant would help to improve Ethiopia’s meat export.

It would also enable the pastoral community to benefit from its animal resources as well as the leather industry, he said.

In addition to promoting technology transfer, the plant to be built on 75 hectares of land around Zeway, Oromia Regional State at a cost of 371 million birr will create employment opportunities for residents of the locality, he added.

Brazilian Development Bank to Provide USD1 Billion for Ethiopian Railway Project

The Brazilian Development Bank will extend USD 1 billion in funding to construct a portion of the railway project that will connect Ethiopia and South Sudan, an Ethiopian Foreign Ministry official said.

Brazil's Andrade Gutierrez Participacoes SA will be contracted to build the railway link running from Addis Ababa, to Jimma about 439 kM to the southwest, Taye Atskeselassie, director general for the Americas at the ministry, said in an interview on May 24.

The Brazilian Development bank “is willing to finance the project,” he said after Ethiopian Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn met Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff. “The technical side has been finalized, it’s only the financing part; it’s a matter of the details.” Construction will begin “soon,” he said.

Sebastopol to Build Ethiopia’s Biggest Cinema Complex

Sebastopol Entertainment PLC is planning to build a a two-tower, four-story multiplex in Arada District. Sebastopol has acquired a plot of land from the city administration for the construction of the towers for seven million Birr.

Sebastopol has paid 30pc of the total lease price as a down payment when it acquired the land in February, according to Tewodros Teshome, manager of Sebastopol Entertainment. Sebastopl hired Chartered Structural Consulting Engineers (CSC) PLC for the design of the buildings for 310,000Br. The construction of the tower is estimated to cost 50 million Br and construction will begin in June 2013.

The tower will house multiple cinema screens, entertainment center, children play grounds and food court. The building will also have a film studio that will be able to accommodate different setting equipments film makers may require, Tewodros said.

US Energy Developer Terra Launches 400 MW Ethiopia Wind Project

Ezana Mining to build $17.8 million Gold Plant

Ezana Mining Development plc is to build a 17.8 million US dollar gold plant in Tigray Region of Ethiopia. The new mine is expected to contribute to increasing the national revenue from the export of minerals. The mining development awarded the turnkey contract for the project Manhattan Corporation.   The South African mining services provider will build a carbon-in-leach (CIL) gold plant in Northern Tigray.
